Unbearable Heel Pains
The main causes of these sometimes unbearable pains in the heels are heel spur discomforts. Additionally, pains in these areas occur in the muscle called Plantar fascia, which extends from the heels to the big toes. Pains at the back of the heels, if you have pain at the back of your heel, indicate inflammation in the areas where the Achilles tendon connects to the heel bones. These conditions often arise from excessive running or wearing shoes that rub against the back of the heels. These pains at the back of the heel, over time, can slowly lead to thickening of the skin, becoming swollen and red. In affected individuals, swellings or protrusions that feel sensitive and warm to the touch may develop on the back and top of your heels.
Formation of Heel Spurs
Heel spur pain typically occurs with the first movement after resting. It can also cause pain when wearing regular shoes. The first step in treating these conditions is to rest the inflamed and tender area, but you should absolutely avoid putting weight on your feet. Instead, you can place foam pads about half a centimeter thick in the heels of your shoes to support your aching heels, thus providing relief quickly and effectively. However, if these methods do not work, you can try using a heel cup. Another option is over-the-counter orthotic insoles. You can use pads in all the shoes you wear for special occasions, daily life, and on the streets, including all your sneakers, and you will experience some relief from your pain while walking.
To prevent heel spur inflammation, you should apply an ice pack to your heels for approximately 10 to 15 minutes after engaging in necessary activities. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can alleviate pain and swelling. Stretching exercises are also very important at these stages, and you should first and foremost move your feet upwards from the bottom, then to the right and left to warm up your tissues, right before getting out of bed in the morning. You should perform these movements just before going for walks and throughout the day. You will notice that your pain is alleviated and reduced with these movements.
